The monastery ranks seventeenth in the hierarchy of the Athonite monasteries. The monastery is built by the sea, on the southeastern side of the peninsula. ==History== It was founded by Saint (Osios) Gregory (Gregorios)〔http://www.mountathos.gr/active.aspx?mode=enView〕 and it is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. By the end of the 15h century, according to the Russian pilgrim Isaiah, the monastery was Serb. In 1990 the monastery had 71 working monks.
